Chronicles of alienated labor, by Aline Torterat, occupational physician Gwendoline,
secretary, 55 years old[1] ---- I am a disabled worker with a neurological disease called
"orphan." I am 55 years old and disease daily gaining ground. I can not work full time. I
get tired too quickly. Therefore, I can not do anything. I must be the possible seat and I
do not have stairs to go up and down constantly. For ten years I secretarial and telephone
reception in a combination of service and assistance to people with physical or mental
deficits. It's good for me and more is on the ground floor. I'm thirty hours per week in
four days, but it begins to be too heavy. I spend the weekend in bed, my husband helps me
with the chores around the house. Besides, I'm putting together a record of my request for
assistance in housekeeping.
Now I'm in trouble, because at work, now they ordered me to do the ironing of the
President. He is 75 years old, lives alone and does not know board. So he brought his
machine to the office for the person who does the ironing clients in the room provided for
that purpose and that is on the same site as the headquarters of the association, make
your own. But it is better that I go back. Indeed, it turns out that I had already
repaired for that; they made me leave the secretariat for ironing clothes Mr President! I
stopped because before we did that on the floor and I could not climb up. And here we go
again, I was asked again to make him his machine, which is about two hours standing,
stomping, shake and wear an iron that gives me severe pain in the hand. I think I'll
refuse. Because, after all, because he is the President, he does not pay the service, it
is the association that supports through my salary. What I participate, anyway! As I
prepare to get help with home help!
