The father of Kenya’s rising silver screen star Lupita Nyong’o has come out and spoken for the first time in public terming her performance a pride to the family and Kenyans as a whole. “We are very happy. I think it has been a big reward to her hard work and commitment to theatre since she was a child,” said a jolly Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o in Nairobi. Speaking to The Standard Prof Nyong’o who is an actor in his own right said that Lupita’s is a sign that when one is focused chances are they will succeed. Prof Nyong’o has been a member of the Phoenix Players where Lupita honed her acting skills on stage. “I have been a member of the Phoenix players for dog years and before a member of the Donovan Maule Theatre (the precursor of Phoenix Players),” recalled Nyong’o a fiery politician and professor of political Science and Economics.
