White Dog said, "It is kind of precious, you know. Tiny White Dog making a little shrine." She was responding to Steve's announcement this morning that "We had a problem" after he discovered that Bella does more than just hide out and nap under my chair in the living room.

During his early morning routine he dropped the cap to his water bottle which then rolled under the chair. It was too far back for him to reach by hand so he moved the chair out away from the wall. He reclaimed the cap but also revealed Bella's Secret Stash, a collection of things that she was hoarding.

They were things of mine, which was flattering as WD pointed out. The odd collection included a pair of my socks, my eyeglass cleaning cloth, a few used tissues (yuck!), and my checkbook-sized pocket planner. All had gone missing at various times and I had written them off to my carelessness or fairies. None were damaged or chewed...in fact they were all carefully nested in the corner deep under the chair protected from view by the stereo speaker.

Never have any of our dogs been cat burglars, and none have ever shown any interest in the stuff that fills human pockets and bags...except of course, for White Dog's fixation on chewing used tissues but I think that has more to do with the shredding fun than keeping a treasured memento. Bella seemed unfazed at being found out and having the items removed although WD believes she will just reaccumulate things at a more secure and secret spot.

All of this does explain one thing: our Tiniest Girl may not be a small Eskies lady, but rather a LARGE pack rat!
