The latest spoilers from Now Magazine via the Sun (where you now have to register to see their online content so pffft to them) says that Tina McIntyre is about to have a fling with Peter Barlow after Tommy abruptly leaves her (due to Chris Fountain's sacking).
Judging from the initial comments on this post where someone else revealed this spoiler, it's going to to be a popular storyline. But think of it this way. If Lily's paternity hasn't been revealed yet, it will at least distract Tina from that and she won't be crossing her arms and glaring at David all the time. I can do with a bit less of that, thank you very much.
Michelle is looking forward to it, saying "He's quite sexy. Most of the women on Corrie have a thing for him. He's dead nice and a proper gentleman, very thoughtful."
We all know Peter Barlow is very like his father and has a weakness for women. We have been seeing signs that Peter's self esteem has been taking a kicking lately, having lost his business and dependent on Carla for his employment. She's paying for the wedding, the ring and everything else and it's hard on his pride to accept all that. He's trying to make the best of things but it's difficult.Tina and Tommy were love's young dream for awhile but things broke over the surrogacy and though they're back together, I don't think that crack has really mended properly. I don't think it would take much to part them for good and when it happens, as it will due to the departure of Chris Fountain, Tina won't be the first woman that rebounds with another man.
But Peter Barlow? He's old enough to be her father. When has that stopped anyone on a soap! Older men and much younger women have been a fact on Corrie throughout its history. Ken is 15 years older than Deirdre and most of Deirdre's husbands have been that much or more older than her or that much younger. Leanne (born in 1981) is 16 years younger than Peter who's 48 now (born in 1965) and Carla is 38 (born in 1975). Sunita dated Duggie Fergusson and Dev was 10 or 12 years older than Sunita. Who else is there? Gail and Martin. Mike Baldwin and Susan Barlow as well as Linda Sykes. Roy and Hayley, even!
Be that as it may, it seems to me it's entirely in character for Peter to soothe his pride with another woman. I had thought he was heading for the bottle again and that may be involved as well, in my opinion but maybe they'll surprise me and he'll jump into this sober. Ya think?
