After 40 days off the local airwaves, San Diego morning radio fixture Dave Rickards returned to “the DSC” — Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw — on KFMB-FM 100.7 JACK, according to utsnadiego.com.
During his departure, KFMB management and members of the show — consisting of Shelly Dunn, Cookie ‘Chainsaw’ Randolph, Chris Boyer, Ruth 66, and Emily Maguire — remained tight-lipped about Dave’s absence, concerning many longtime listeners.
Monday morning, he broke the silence.
“I had a moment where I realized that my life was getting away from me,” Rickards opened up. “I switched from Vodka to hot tea, which is why there is a black flag flying half mast at Ketel One.”
After digressing with a joke, he continued, “I had to take time off to start eating healthy and take control of my life; it was getting out of hand.”
