F. Michael Franklin, an award-winning broadcaster who worked at three radio stations during a 33-year career in New Orleans , died Friday at St. Theresa Specialty Hospital in Kenner .
He was 82, according to nola.com.
A native of Marshfield , Wis. , who came to New Orleans in 1965, just before Hurricane Betsy struck, Franklin was news director and an anchor at WNOE-AM until 1973, when he moved to WGSO-AM, where he spent a decade as a news anchor and reporter as well as a talk-show host and a weekend sportscaster.
He was a news anchor and reporter at WWL-AM from 1983 to 1992, and he returned to WGSO for a year in 1996. He retired in 1998.
