---- - First night of the occupation has full plenary and little room for sleep

The protesters, about 50 the first time and more than 200 overnight, require the free pass
for students and unemployed and the opening of accounts of companies that manage
transportation. The chairman of the Board of Aldermen, Alderman Thiago Duarte (PDT), tried
to continue with the activities normally in plenary session but stopped when protesters
descended galleries. "There's talk / is the free pass that matters!", Was one of the first
screams echoed in the house.
According to the protesters, "this is a permanent occupation in repudiation of the
councilors who voted in favor of business and against the people" - in reference to the
rejection of the amendments by the transparency in the accounts of public transport that
occurred on July 1.
Around 18:30, Thiago Duarte and part of the council spoke to protesters on the ground
floor. While the councilors demanded that there be no damaging the factory house,
protesters demanded the opening of the gates of the House so that more people enter.
Protesters have placed dozens of tracks along the floor of the House and pitched the first
tent. The main immediate claim group was the opening of the gates of the house, so who is
outside can be added to the occupation and attend the meeting.
In a second conversation with the occupants, the president Thiago Duarte expressed concern
about the permanence of the group. The activists said that only the assembly of the group
will decide whether the occupation remains tonight or not.
The Military Police has been called, but the security of the president is that the police
will be outside the House. The Municipal Guard says the protesters inside.
After the dialogue with the protesters, the president had agreed to open the gates. After
a moment of tension in the Home Guard came to wield pistols shock at the gates, they were
open.
At 20:08 the protesters who were outside began to join the Chamber. Shouting "free pass
now!", Dozens of people have joined the occupation that began in the late afternoon. New
brands such as LGBT and anarchist movements, were extended on the floor. Around 21h, the
protesters showed up and started the first assembly of the occupation.

In the first minutes of Thursday (11), the City Council of Porto Alegre still retained
traces of the occupation as it was before - but every time it changes its aspect more. The
running time of the speech follows in one of the panels, but there is no formal session
going on there - from the late afternoon Wednesday (10), protesters occupy the benches of
the House and galleries. Since late yesterday afternoon, posters took the blue background
of plenary and various committees had organized the routine of occupation of the site.
In a corner next to the benches of the council, the commission distributes food
sandwiches, mineral water, milk, fruit and crackers. For now, there is enough food for all
protesters to stay overnight at the site, but on the morning of Thursday - at a meeting,
the activists present decided to stay in place - new food will be needed. Fruits like
apple, banana and bergamot, mineral water bottles, packages of bread and instant coffee
can be delivered in the occupation. Cleaning products, paper towels and garbage bags are
also requested.

Other committees have been organized after the first meeting of the occupation, which
occurred around 21h on Wednesday. The cleaning seeks to maintain the site in the same
conditions as recorded at the beginning of the movement, while security seeks to control
the entry and exit of the protesters, while maintaining certain dialogue with the guards
of the house. On the walls, no graffiti was recorded, and there are many signs that point
to the claims process: "100% public transport public", "opening the company accounts" and
"free pass to the people."
Above the presiding officers of the House, the crucifix no longer appears in solitude. Two
posters - "Jesus is gay" and "secular state?" - Began to accompany the statue of Christ.
At dawn, some protesters sought space under the benches. Despite the lights remained on
and the following active batucada in the hallways, there were those who tried to sleep -
the next meeting is scheduled for 8 am on Thursday (11). The fifth, incidentally, will
also mark Walks general strike called by unions.
The first night of the occupation draws to an end smoothly. The Municipal Guard walks
around the outside of the site and remains in some of the hits of the building without
direct contact with the protesters. Just before two in the morning, militants adapted
songs and movements on the floor of the House. "Articulating with low and bothering the
top," said one of the songs, evidence of the breath that had the eighth consecutive time
occupation. Over a hundred people remain in the City Council of Porto Alegre.
