Brazil, CALC: Anarchist Opinion #3 - Brief analysis on current libertarian socialist movements (pt)

We can say that the month of June, 2013 entered into the history of Brazil, being the 17th
one emblematic date: 1.5 million people have been occupying the streets - 20,000 only in
Curitiba. We have not seen it since 1992, when thousands took to the streets demanding the
impeachment of Collor. ---- Surely, these mobilizations have transformed the political
landscape, after all, it was only through the direct action of the streets that bus fares
fell in several cities, reinserting this tactic in the political agenda. The marches also
expressed discontent what is configured as the first mass movement after 10 years in power
PT, this government which, apart from not advancing social rights (health, education,
labor, transportation), even intensified in privatization (Hospitals, airports, ports),
(against) reforms (pension, university, labor, etc.).

Promotion record profits for banks, and even injected money into the bourgeoisie real
estate and construction. Moreover, compared to social movements, did not demonstrate a
distinct posture to its predecessors, criminalizing and persecuting militancy not
surrendered to cooptation, showing that as every government has a hand: the ruling
classes, and so could never meet the expectations of the population clamoring for change.

Who woke the giant?

The demonstrations, which inciaram in cities across the country due to the fare increase,
received in his early harsh criticism of the press, due to the actions more radicalized
youth on the street (which were generally only in response to police violence) . However,
at any given time, the corporate media changes your posture: offensive, happens to be
"generous" with the protesters, and even call people "peaceful" to the streets, while
criminalizing "thugs". Thus, attempts to influence the actions of street printing
institutional order (the order of the bourgeois state) to the mass movements. To this end,
urges the protesters to put up against each other ("peaceful" vs. "thugs"), leaving aside
the real enemy: the bankers, employers, the state and its repressive apparatus.
Overlooking the electoral agenda in 2014, invests in the mainstream press demonstrations
and attempts to "surf" this wave by entering their agendas. Through its monopoly power of
the media, try to create a wave of jingoism and patriotism, trying to sweep the left
movements and establish an agenda "conservative", they appear agendas as the fight against
corruption (but only to the EN), which favors direct election by the right side (PSDB and
DEM), and indirectly invites groups of the extreme right (skinheads, anonymous,
Integralists, Nazis etc.) to go to the streets to defend the "right flag" (the Brazil,
which unifies exploiters and exploited under the same policy).

If, on the one hand, we observe the attempts of the right to give the direction of this
movement by those fulfilling the role of being his voice (corporate media), on the other,
as libertarians, we must affirm our historical criticism about bureaucratization of social
movements, which draws its autonomy and power to mobilize the grassroots. It is said that
in any way legitimize attacks on left-wing organizations, on the contrary, we reject
absolutely. But the left can not shirk their responsibilities in regard to their wear: the
attempt to provide an answer to the electoral aspirations of the people through "popular
applications" - where the most exemplary case is the PT and its rise to power State - drag
to the legality of the State (elections and parliament) political disputes of the people,
making their organizations (unions, neighborhood associations, student bodies and social
movements)

structures that are no longer supporting their parties. Note that this way of acting on
the left has undoubtedly had adverse results because not only brings the achievements that
the people in their struggle objective, diverting it from its sense (that is to transform
the lives of low) and eventually put into disrepute with the general population based
organizations of their own people. It is necessary also to say that much of the left
opposition to the PT is no exception to this operating model, working to reinforce this
stigma on leftist organizations and even on the basis of popular organizations, and
finally, on the policy itself, that is seen as "dirty" (after all, bourgeois politics in
capitalist state is really dirty and corrupt par excellence, the capitalist state is
corrupt in the medium in which legitimates the exploitation of workers). Such practices
rigging and tying the design of projects down the partisan political election turns out to
be responsible, at least in part, to the clutter and depoliticization of the population.

Thus, the population ceases to be referenced in these organizations, and the power of the
state and corporate media (apparatus of the bourgeoisie) turns out to be superimposed on
the movement just by the force of the devices you have in your hands, making the people
hostage to his traps and manipulations.

If there is no mention of struggle, who calls the shots?

We've already mentioned here about the legitimacy of the struggle of the masses to take to
the streets of the country, after all, their discontent is not only justified as
righteous. However, this process also brings teaching a lesson to the left: not enough
terms the people in the street exercising direct action as much as this in itself can be
very positive if there are no prior organization and rooting at the base, there will be "
disputing the direction "of such movements, or even imposing themselves on the masses, we
will build a project of social transformation. With no social organization of the bases of
this movement, with no reference spaces and collective construction of an agenda of
actions and struggles, such a move is much more susceptible to the voices coming from the
strength of the "top" (the corporate media and the state), so that this population
disorganized over, because of the lack of dialogue and a collective political project,
initiating a process of dispute between those who have "call the shots": on the one hand,
the right and the corporate media, on the other, left ruling. If, on the one hand, the
media tried guided motion suggesting an agenda of struggles that had focused on the
destabilization of the PT to the elections, the PT even knew how to use the moment to
implement part of your program (5 pacts) to "touch box "in Congress, where very little or
nothing was heard the voices of the streets for the construction of such demands.

Thus, it seems that such a movement was restricted due to organicity preview of
MPL-National Movement (Free Pass, arranged at least 10 years), which has a model of action
and forms of activity deeply rooted in the population, leading to population to challenge
the price tariffs and even demand a public transport really (zero tariff). When everything
seems these are the only guidelines that genuinely came from the streets and had echo.

It is the lesson: Organize the base or be swallowed by the streets!

This experience of struggle, hope all the left can withdraw learning (we put in left
field, so we have incorporated in such critical). We reiterate our statements about the
need for the left to take root more bases of society, putting himself alongside everyday
people, workplaces, housing and study. After all, such a move is symptomatic of the
absence of these places left, so their lack of ability to influence the masses in general.
Proves insufficient methodology dispute the directions of unions and student, it is
necessary a change in the structure of the movements.

It is necessary to return to the subject of wear entities based on a social level (unions,
student organizations, neighborhood associations and social movements) that need to be
rehabilitated front of the general population, need to be re-built spaces of thought and
political action the masses. Such a result, we are sure, will only come with unified
action from left to resume, on the basis of the movement, such organizational spaces of
scabs, and even organize where there is no organization. Only then can we root program
transformations in people and guided such mass movements.

The work is hard - there are no formulas that we can continue to give a "twist" in this
environment. But we, at least, a note: only one hard-working organization of the social
bases can change this situation and put the ongoing construction of popular power. In this
movement, we do not require more than a battle station: without sectarianism and unity in
the struggle to build a strong people!
