Abstract: The authors obtained and reviewed new experimental data and applied them to formulation of some additions to the concepts developed by V.I.Vernadsky on the biosphere, namely: (1) the issues of typology of the matter in the biosphere and (2) the issues of biogenic migration of chemical elements in the biosphere. Some new facts on the role of biogenic substances in the biosphere were analyzed in this presentation, which in turn leads to a contribution to better understanding of the biosphere. The authors studied the following issues: 1) Concentration of some metals and other chemical elements in the aquatic organisms; 2) Effects of some metals on the biota; 3) Effects of the biota on chemicals, especially effects of aquatic macrophytes on the levels of pollutants (including heavy metals Cd, Cu, Zn, Pb) in aquatic medium; 4) The role of the biota in migration of metals and other chemical elements; 5) Practical use of new knowledge, and applications to  improving water quality.
