More than 800 Moroccan railway hired in 1970 by SNCF assigned their employer to court for
discrimination. They continue today to employee-es-es from immigration. ---- At the
hearing on 4 February ruling on the case of 74 of these Moroccan employees, their lawyer,
Mr. Mendes, denounced " multiple discrimination "related to" nationality, before moving
on the age and origin "[ 1 ]. The special status of PS25 [ 2 ] does not allow them to
enjoy the same rights as their fellow French nationality, particularly in terms of career
development. ---- "A multiple discrimination" ---- Thus, this status has condemned them to
remain in implementation tasks and grueling business. "There is a difference between what
they do and their income," insisted their lawyer. -- Differential treatment reflected
today in their pensions.
While their colleagues French nationality receive 75% of their salary and they touched six
months before retirement, Moroccans touch 900 euros after more than 40 years. Other
discrimination fingered: those who have become regular staff after obtaining French
nationality have lost their seniority. SNCF have managed to save 70 million euros per year
on their back by paying only 12% of social security contributions against 35% for
statutory employees.
After becoming aware of the discrimination they retire, they decided to fight together to
overcome the fragmentation. More than 2000 railway entered the battle.
Discrimination still valid
Racist discrimination are also far be the past. The collective "SNCF right to difference",
was created to fight against the hierarchy of tolerance vis-?-vis racism. On their
Facebook page, the employees from es Immigration and discriminated against in the
workplace reflect their lives. Twenty of them and they have protested in front of the
train, on April 19 and June 6, 2012, to denounce such behavior. One party even started a
hunger strike in July. In vain. Acts of racism and discrimination persist in the SNCF,
every time, protects authors and attempts to silence the victims. Even when perpetrators
of racist acts are brought to justice, the company does not endorse.
Present at the hearing of the Moroccan railway with members of the Association of North
African workers in France (ATMF), this new generation of workers discriminated es
considers it important to combine their efforts with those of the former. Racism crosses
generational barriers, it is the same fight!
