On the assassination of anti-fascist activist, Cl?ment M?ric ---- This is no time for
polemics but instead to unify the militant antifascist forces while acknowledging the
change to be made in the organisation/management of society. ---- Cl?ment M?ric, a young
antifascist activist, also a member of the Student Union Solidaires etudiants at the
Political Science Institute, was killed by far right activist (from the Jeunesses
Nationalistes R?volutionnaires) in a cowardly assault. ---- First we have a thought for
his relatives, family, friends and comrades in struggles. ---- The trivilization of
racists, sexists, homophobic and extremists ideas in society, along with the complacency
of the authorities regarding this rise of far right violence must warn us about the
necessary alertness in such a context, but also about the need to organise and unite in
order to confront these groups and activists.
The call to ban violent groups cannot in anyway meet the challenges of the situation. The
state will never be a bulwark against authoritarian movements who advocate its consolidation.
We have to recall that, if today we mourn the death of a young comrade of struggles, the
fascists attack became commonplace in Rennes, Toulouse, Lille or Lyon. In this last city,
if no death is yet to be deplored, the fascist violence rose to 500 days of ?legally
regognised? injuries, 39 assaults and 2 murder attempts.
The social injustice, the context of crisis and the disappointment of those who believed a
change in the highest level of the state would be able to change something, are the
realities instrumentalised by these nostalgic for fascism in order to recruit.
However this is no time for polemics but instead to unify the militant antifascist forces
while acknowledging the change to be made in the organisation/management of society.
In order to achieve this, wherever it is possible, it is necessary to gather, on
anthiautoritarian, anticapitalist and class ground, to show our determination to oppose
fascism and to the hateful acts its activist commit !
