The Ocean University of China (simplified Chinese: 中国海洋大学; traditional Chinese: 中國海洋大學; pinyin: Zhōngguó Hǎiyáng Dàxué), colloquially known as Haida (海大) is a university in Qingdao. As one of the key comprehensive universities of China, it is under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. The university has approximately 39.500 enrolled students, more than 8500 of whom are doctoral and master students and about 900 are foreign students. The university has a staff of around 2.800 people, with more than half of them being professors or lecturers. Many of them are specialists or scholars well-known both at home and abroad. Among them are three academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, five academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

TNO is a knowledge organization for companies, government bodies and public organizations. The approximately 5,400 employees work to develop and apply knowledge. TNO tests and certifies products and services, and issues an independent evaluation of quality. Moreover, TNO sets up new companies to market innovations. The Santa Fe Institute (SFI) is an independent, nonprofit theoretical research institute located in Santa Fe (New Mexico, United States) and dedicated to the multidisciplinary study of the fundamental principles ofcomplex adaptive systems, including physical, computational, biological, and social systems.
The Institute consists of a small number of resident faculty, a large group of "external" faculty, whose primary appointments are at other institutions, and a number of visiting scholars.
