Nuka had been to see Dr. Julia for a "final" blood panel to check her kidney values and to make sure the pancreatitis attack was finally over. Her enzyme levels were all back within normal range and her kidney value was 2.2 (1.8 is the target). Since she is so close and has shown an increased interest in hydrating herself, Dr. Julia pronounced the kidneys as "good to go" (with the usual caution if she stops drinking that we are to subq hydrate and bring her back in). Nuka is now officially "recovered!"
As the White Ones howled in happiness, I reminded them that Another White Dog still has the task of regaining the weight she has lost (nearly 3-1/2 lbs on her normal 19lb frame). Dr. Julia does want to see her in a month for a weigh-in.
We shared Chinese takeout and Nuka was first in line for her egg drop soup and rice. She is much more excited about eating her normal meals as well as any treats that are offered. While not quite back to full appetite, she is nearly there. And we are wiggy-waggy happy.
Fortunately, the WDA does not complain too loudly about "being cheated" as Nuka gets extras if she wants them. They DO sometimes stand a bit too close for her comfort watching as she slowly chews but there is no aggression, just wistful wishing (although not a single one would trade extra cookies for having "Nuka boots"!)
