VILLA EGERTON

Villa Egerton.

We girls are thinking of taking a holiday.

One possibility is Villa Egerton.

This property has three housekeepers, a butler, a chef and a chauffeur.

Not as many staff as we are used to, but we'll manage.

Hugh Richard Arthur Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, and his mistress Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel liked the French Riviera, and Villa Egerton.

Churchill in the News

Villa Egerton has views of Monte Carlo and the Mediterranean.

It has seven bedrooms and five-acres of gardens.

Well, we girls can share rooms.

Winston Churchill spent several summers at Villa Egerton writing his memoirs.

Other gay and possibly not-gay people who have stayed at Villa Egerton include:

General De Gaulle, Konrad Adenauer, Greta Garbo, Coco Chanel, Scott Fitzgerald, Salvador Dali, Ernest Hemmingway, Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery, Anthony Eden, the Duke of Windsor, French president René Coty, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace, Aristotle Onassis, Noel Coward and Somerset Maughan.

What's good enough for them, is good enough for us.

Villa Egerton was built by Georges Tersling, who constructed most of the Belle Époque villas of Cap Martin.

Villa Egerton's first owner, in 1902, was the Earl Reginald MacKenna, the first Lord of the Admiralty.

The current owner of Villa Egerton is the Irish tycoon Michael Maye.

During high season a month's stay costs around €300,000 or we can rent it for around €90,000 per week.

Jolly good value.
