The cost of the plant at Flamanville is increasing. But the actual cost should also take 
into account many additional parameters always ignored by the authorities.
While the Socialist government, backed by Europe-Ecologie-Les-Greens (EELV), is shy on 
nuclear exit, the hypocrisy of this position continues to be more obvious. After the 
danger of this energy source, recalled by the tragic events of Fukushima, is its economic
absurdity that we are reminded by the new estimates of the cost of Flamanville from 3.3 
billion euros in 2005-8500000000 euros currently. This inflation, due inter alia to 
technical faults and poor design of some processes, including security, speaks volumes 
about the seriousness with which the state begin this kind of project.

Costs eternally underestimated

This underestimation of costs is chronic. Implementation by its developers, it falls 
ultimately on taxpayers while rewarding industry. And mask the true costs, well above 
current estimates: repair and decommissioning, and waste storage, treatment of a serious 
accident. Experience Brennilis, one of the first central dismantled in France, is 
revealing: the cost of decommissioning, estimated at 19.4 million in 1979, was 
re-estimated in 2005 by the Court of Auditors to 482 million! Today, EDF has just over ? 
10 billion set aside to finance the dismantling of the French fleet, while Marc Goua, 
Special Rapporteur to the National Assembly, recalled in 2011 that the cost could reach 
750 billion euros. As for 1000 billion that could cost a serious accident according to the 
Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety, do not think most, if Areva 
should put the key under the door.

With ? 3.3 billion, which would cost the EPR Originally Network out nuclear (RSN) 
estimates that could produce twice as much energy from renewable sources and create local
and and 10,000 jobs in an industry much less risky. Imagine what we could do with the ? 
8.3 billion that now costs the project. And all those other billion that the nuclear 
industry will cost more if it is a "sector of the future." To oppose their lies 
technicist, the antinuclear movement must remain vigorous and demanding.

Immediate cessation of nuclear

Antinuclear federation was created in Britain to overcome the lack of ambition and RSN 
together among other activists and campaigners Stop Nuclear 56, RSN Cornwall, the 
Anarchist Federation and Libertarian Alternative demanding an immediate halt power. 
Similarly, the Resisters Chefresne or Saint-Martin d'Aubigny block the construction of EHV 
line (very high voltage) provided between Rennes and Flamanville. This battle, less 
media-covered quecelui of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, yet is under (re) similar political 
pressure and police. We must work towards convergence of ecological struggles of the 
moment, reject all polluting energies and the world that goes with it to propose an 
alternative model of society and finally get an immediate halt of nuclear power.
