The fight against the airport project Notre Dame des Landes is currently under the
spotlight. The project, 40 years old, should lead to the construction of the third airport
in northern France Nantes, over 2000 hectares of wetlands and groves, wealth, social and
ecological recognized. ---- Illegal, this project does not include any measure of
ecological compensation for the destruction of the area. Wide land use plan of the Great
West, totally useless for the local population, this project will directly benefit -
through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) - capitalist enterprises (Vinci ...) and their
political accomplices (Ayrault et al). The group Vinci is assured of profitability of 11%
offset any deficit by public funds. ---- The construction of the airport means more
overall implementation of high-speed lines (LGV), industrial zones and road routes.
People living in the area for a long time - peasants, "simple" inhabitant inhabitants -
and the more recently installed must pay social and health consequences of the project.
The residents of the ZAD (Zone deferred development zone to defend renamed) were able to
revive the struggle at a time when local associations and elected representatives seemed
to desert. The Zadistes have developed a rich life, alternative and autonomous integrating
gardening and small crafts. Life experience carries a self-managed real dynamic social and
ecological transformation.
Today, the PS-EELV government will stop at nothing to carry out the project. He
shamelessly flouted its election promises. Repression deployed to evict the occupiers are
the ZAD fifteen days of the winter break and suppress the challenge is unprecedented (1
Zsadist for 10 cops). Ironically, at a time of austerity and fiscal restraint device
expulsion and destruction will cost 1 Million ? in 2 weeks.
Libertarian alternative is actively engaged in this fight by supporting rural populations,
Zadistes, peasant and farmers, residents and inhabitants.
We call on the people to invest in the many acts of resistance that bloom throughout
France despite the collusion of political parties and the complicit silence of the
majority of the media.
The next day of action will take place on November 17 around the reoccupation of the ZAD
to Notre Dame des Landes.
