SQUAT UDESC? 48H MOBILIZATION ---- WHAT? ---- today, March 19, through the meeting of
the University Council of UDESC (CONSUNI) approved the process in 11 781 \ 2012, relating
to changes in general bylaws of the university. ---- IMPLICATIONS ---- These changes,
called off and no significant impacts were considered structural by most students. Despite
a large demonstration aimed at opening and expansion of discussion that allows a view of
the real consequences of these changes, the process was approved by the University Board.
Changes said issues concerning the creation of a Supplemental Body Superior, bound and
tied to the dean, to facilitate, support and encourage the uptake of private resources for
all areas of the University. This change can in no way be seen as punctual as structurally
moves on university autonomy and amending the policy of intellectual property, technology
transfer and direction of teaching, research and extension.
POSITIONING AND CLAIMS
For us students it was clear that the vote took place undemocratically, once the voting
power and voice student is limited to one representative per center. The production of
knowledge built on public university should be in accordance with the interests of popular
demands. FEEL NOT REPRESENTED. We question the democracy and parity DEMAND vote on advice
and deliberative UDESC and the universalization of the vote in elections.
Our demands go beyond tariffs placed on meeting today. There is a history of the student
movement fighting for issues and structural continuities student: university restaurant, a
local student housing, grants for research, extension and monitoring to assist students
financially (the actual value is 360 years without adjustment). Our physical
infrastructure is crumbling! We're out of permanent materials for use in classes until
minor things like cutting grass, toilet paper and other things minimal, due to historical
maldistribution of money that is intended for UDESC.
