today, express the deepest feelings of grief and anger over the brutal murder of MST
militant Guedes Cicero dos Santos. Killed on behalf of local retaliation arising from
occupation "Lu?s Maranh?o" in plant cane sugar Cambahyba in Campos - RJ. Occupation
emblematic, because these lands, belonging to the family of Heli Ribeiro Gomes, ovens
manufacture of sugar were loaned to incinerate bodies of militants killed by the military
dictatorship. ---- Fellow present since the first occupation of the MST in the state of
Rio de Janeiro, where today is the settlement Zumbi dos Palmares, Cicero was a militant
claw and presence. Where there fighting, where there was animation in the movement there
was the fellow with his voice firm and its slogans always challenging the Capital, always
fighting the exploitation of the working class, organizing and resisting.
His career as a rural worker is similar to thousands of other farmers in our continent,
migrating from region to region, fighting against landlordism in various camps and land
occupations in search of social justice and popular sovereignty. His family, like many
others who resist the field, never tired of fighting for agrarian reform, always willing
to organize the production of healthy food and mobilize new partners to follow in building
a more dignified and egalitarian society.
We express again our indignation, demanding that the killers are punished and who is
guilty also reinforcing the Brazilian state, not realizing the agrarian reform. This
government that keeps thousands of families under canvas and on roadsides, suffering from
all kinds of threats and difficulties. It also blamed agribusiness with its model of
exploitation of the poor that when the poison does not kill with their pesticides, with
bullet kills his henchmen.
The seeds of popular power and follow with life right now, comrades in struggle barricades
