Elizabeth Knudson and "Tides"

Our blog has been dormant for the past few months, recovering from our incredible Albanian/Macedonian orchestra tour of last summer, but we do have some very exciting news to share.  WCSO cellist and Canadian Music Centre Associate Composer, Elizabeth Knudson, has just completed a new work for full orchestra, "Tides", inspired by our Balkan adventures this past summer.  She will be traveling back to Tirana, Albania, in mid-March, where the Orkestra Simfonike e RTSH (Albanian Radio-Television Orchestra) will be giving the world premiere of this new work, under the direction of our own Maestro Bujar Llapaj.

Ms. Knudson will be traveling with Oliver de Clercq (principal horn of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra), who has been specially invited to perform with the Orkestra Simfonike e RTSH as guest soloist.  Mr. de Clercq will be performing Ms. Knudson's horn concerto, "Mosaic" (which received its world premiere here in Vancouver, Canada, with the WCSO back in 2010, under the direction of Maestro Llapaj), as well as R. Strauss' Horn Concerto No. 1.

This promises to be a very exciting event-- we will be updating with further details, as plans unfold!
