I got this kid, where I got him from I sometimes wonder. But at any rate he is 76 or 77 inches tall, and weighs a startling 20 stone, which he tones at the gym on a regular basis. He is a quiet , polite, charming and generally nice young man. He treats his mother , his father and his dog well, although the dog could do without being picked up and held like a 50 pound baby.
I say where did we get him, because he is a rabid football fan. Neither Mom, nor Dad ever got into it, Mom knows little of it and I only know what I read. I am into the hiking, biking thing and it seems as if hiker /biker types never ever, not even for a moment have ever thought to dress up in some crazy colorful outfit in respect to their team. Oh, yeah, we dress up, but ours is for show, not for a team. Our hot pink spandex shorts and flourescent greens would not last a minute in Raiders Stadium, if you know what I am talking about.
So there he is yesterday, wearing a purple jersey and telling us that he is taking over the den. We knew that and retreated to the liviing room with our books and I Pods. We sat there and we listened to our usually docile son, berate the officials, the opposition NE Patriots and all of their associated fans in loud, yeah JET ENGINE loud terms. We sat in the living room and laughed, because his buddies who were watching elsewhere were texting him early on, goading him that his team was behind. We could hear the ping of the phone and the calls being made. They laugh at his over the top rooting, so he has taken to sequestration to watching the game. He can stomp, yeall and carry on and not feel embarassed by it.
At the end of the day, we heard him tell one of his buddies that he won't even leave the house on Super Bowl Sunday, Thankfully, his mother and I have tickets to a Broadway Show on that day.
I do not know anything about football, nor do I care to learn, but it is nice to see that people are invested in cheering on others and have a passion for the game.
But why Baltimore ? We live hours away. My wife says it is because of the trips we took him on when he was young and visited Baltimore. He fell in love with the city and all its Charms. Hey if you never been to Baltimore, you don't know what you are missing. One saving factor is that is could have been New England as we used to visit in Boston, thank God it is not.
Go Ravens.
