International Day against repression in Russia
The socialist movement in Russia (RSD), Autonomous action and Left Front send a call to
solidarity with their comrades around the world. They and they face an unprecedented
crackdown aimed at undermining the Russian left as an organized force. A mass protest
movement was launched in December 2011 and was launched at Occupy Moscow last May. For the
authorities, the movement has exceeded the limits and the time has come to show their
teeth. The crackdown has continued to expand. The Left Front organization is now subject
to a "verification" that could lead to a ban on "extremism". Pressure on the anti-fascist
movements also increases. This repression prepares austerity measures, setbacks for
workers' rights and pension reform which will soon be implemented in Russia. The
Putin-Medvedev government fears the current democratic union movement with the forces of
social protest. Days unitary action took place between November 29 and December 2 at the
