(en) Brazil, S?o Paulo, Rizome Settlers of Milton Santos occupy the building Incra (pt)

In the early hours of Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 70 families and supporters of the
settlement Milton Santos, located in Americana and Cosmopolis, occupied the premises of
INCRA (National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform) in Sao Paulo. They aim to
report they are threatened with eviction and demand of President Dilma Rousseff to sign
the decree of expropriation by corporate interest, preventing a possible tragedy. Settlers
are threatened with being evicted from their homes and lots, where they plant and lived
for seven years, when were officially settled by the federal government. Families of
Milton Santos suffer this threat for more than six months, and last Wednesday, January 9,
Incra received judicial notice requiring the families to vacate the area in maximum 15
days. If stay is authorized the use of state and federal police force to carry out the
eviction. Several legal actions have been taken and representatives of the federal
government pledged not to evict the families. However, no effective measure has been taken.

It is already known that the only effective measure to prevent the eviction is the
expropriation by corporate interest area. So families are willing to maintain the
occupation until President Dilma sign the decree of expropriation.
