Carcanet Poetry Night at Dulwich Books

Jane Yeh, author of the 'profound, funny and sad' collection, The Ninjas

Don't miss Oli Hazzard, Caroline Bird and Jane Yeh, three of Carcanet's most exciting new poets, reading from their work at Dulwich Books on Wednesday 6th March at 7.30pm.

Caroline Bird
Sestinas, sonnets, pantoums and palindromes meld with playful tones in Oli Hazzard's first collection Between Two Windows, praised as 'haunting, hilarious, exquisitely inventive' (Mark Ford).  Hazzard's poetry has appeared in magazines and anthologies including The Forward Book of Poetry 2010, Best British Poetry 2011, The Salt Book of Younger Poets and New Poetries V (Carcanet, 2011).

Oli Hazzard
Caroline Bird, an award-winning poet and playwright, will be reading from her fourth poetry collection, The Hat-Stand Union, which will be published in March 2013.  She received an Eric Gregory in 2002, and in 2008 was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize for young writers. The Hat-Stand Union sees Bird returning to the world she created as a teenager with Looking Through Letterboxes in 2002, when she became Carcanet's youngest ever poet to publish a collection. Her voice has been described as 'original, captivating and spellbinding' (Lemn Sissay).

Jane Yeh's first collection Marabou was published by Carcanet in 2005 to critical acclaim, and was shortlisted for the Whitbread, Forward, and Aldeburgh Festival poetry prizes. She is the recipient of an Academy of American Poets Prize, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and a residency at Yaddo. The Ninjas, Yeh's latest collection, moves deftly between high art and pop culture. It has been praised as 'profound, funny and sad, reminding us that humans and androids are lonely and need love' (Aingeal Clare, the Guardian).

All these books are available from the Carcanet website in paperback with free UK delivery; and in all major e-book formats. The Hat-Stand Union will be published in March.

The event will be held in the bookshop on Wednesday 6th March at 7.30pm. Tickets can be reserved via email, online or by telephone on 020 8670 1920.
