Whew that was close

My wife and I drove over to New York City last night to pick up our daugher arriving by bus from Wahsington DC.  We left home around 9 PM, arrived in plenty of time to meet the bus.  The bus these days is one of those luxury cruising buses, with wi-fi and stuff.

So we got to sit for a while on the street .  We were amazed at the numbers of people still roaming the streets at 10 PM.  The City that never sleeps is aptly named.  But then we figured it out, and then we locked the doors of the car.  Yup, nearing the end of the world ---all these people on the street  were zombies.  Thousands and thousands of them on the streets of NY at 10 PM, there is no other explanation.

The bus arrived, we grabbed our girl and escaped from NY. Whew that was close.

Safely at home we ate and went to bed.  But this moring the wind was howling like the hurricane of a few weeks back, trees were crashing as branches snapped, rain lashed the windows. I took the dog and my rain gear and went out and did the dog thing. It was brutal at 6 AM, so bad that the dog complained.  We shortly retreated to home and shook off the wet or at least I did, the dog ran upstairs jumped on the bed and rolled around until he was dry, thus waking the vacationing wife who has taken to sleeping in until 7 AM this week. I laughed, for I for some reason find the wet dog wake up of the sleeping in spouse to be high order funny..  I sat down read the newspaper had a cup of coffee and realized that the end hour had passed.  I said a quiet thank you.

An hour or so later everyone else was up and they switched on the Television, they who are either on vacation or don't have to work today , but there was no signal from the satelite.  I went out and checked and the dish was knocked askew by the wind.  I returned and told them that I would fix it when I got home from work tonight.

Collectively they screamed, NO TELEVISION FOR A DAY---OH MY GOD IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD.
