Reading our blogger Sunny Jim's post about the ghosts of Christmas past, and our blogger David (Clinkers) post about Coronation Street Christmas, 1960s style, has stirred up some peculiar feelings.
No, not those feelings, missus, I've got tablets for that. I mean, feelings of nostalgia for a Coronation Street that perhaps no longer exists.
And it's set me thinking about what this coming Christmas might bring in the way of Coronation Street seasonal storylines.
So let's look at what we know so far and with a bit of help from this week's Inside Soap magazine, who tease a bit of tinsel in with the previews, let's see what we can look forward to on Corrie this Christmas. And then, you decide, is it going to be a Christmas cracker or a turkey? Sadly for this fan, there's not much to put a seasonal smile on my Corrie face and I'm voting it turkey with the trots.
From the Coronation Street spoilers we've picked up from the press, we know that there'll be a wedding, Marcus' parents will turn up, and Chesney and Kirk recycle last year's storyline using turkeys instead of trees.
And from the tinsel teaser in this week's fab Inside Soap magazine, there's not much more set to sparkle on the Street. Kevin and Sophie develop a crush on Jenna, there'll be a will she/won't she at the wedding with Leanne and Nick and Peter, and another will she/won't she in the form of Kirsty finding out (or not) about Fiz and Tyrone getting close once again.
And that's it. That's our Christmas on Coronation Street 2012 style. No mention of good tidings and joy, no sniff of a singalong in the Rovers, no homeless waifs and strays being taken in and fed. It looks like most of the action is going to feature heavily around Carla, Peter, Leanne, Nick, Kylie, David, Tina and Tommy. And that's not pressing the buttons on this fan's fairy lights to make them flash on and off with glee.
