It's Monday, What Are You Reading? Nov. 26, 2012

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

I had a good reading week this past week. My Thanksgiving Break was a chance for me to have my own personal readathon. And the snowy weather in Northern Minnesota made staying inside an absolute pleasure. I finished six books.
I read Coveted by Shawntelle Madison from my TBR shelves and then Kept which was the sequel on my Kindle as a review book from NetGalley. These were interesting urban fantasy novels in part because the main character suffers from OCD. My review for Coveted is here and my review for Kept will be posted on Nov. 29.
I also read Star Trek Federation: The First 150 Years by David A. Goodman which is faux nonfiction complete with footnotes for the devoted Star Trek fan. My review will be posted on Dec. 1.
I read three young adult books from my review stack.
  • The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse is the first book in a new dystopia. It was entertaining. My review is here.
  • Mystic City by Theo Lawrence is also the first book in a series. This one was a fantasy sort of dystopia that was entertaining but not very original. My review will be posted on Nov. 29.
  • Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst was an epic fantasy that I thought was amazing. The characters where life-like and the setting was very well done. I loved this book and, unusual for the genre, this novel was the complete story very satisfyingly told. My review will be posted on Dec. 1. I will be donating this one to my high school media center and buying myself a keeper copy too.

I am currently reading Tears in Rain by Rosa Montero. This is a review book that was sent to me by Wunderkind PR because they know I am a science fiction fan. I haven't read much but am already fascinated with the world.

Here are the next books on my stack. They make up all of the December review books that I have received so far. (I think I have a couple of Amazon Vine books coming that will also be December releases.)
I have finally been able to read some of the review books on my stack that were released before I got them. I have Gold by Chris Cleave which I got from Amazon Vine and Under the Desert Moon by Emma Meade which I received from the author.
I have a couple more Amazon Vine picks on my stack though these are December releases - Guardians of Stone by Anita Clenney and She Can Tell by Melinda Leigh.
Waiting for me on my Kindle are The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken and Scent of Magic by Maria V. Snyder.

I am hoping for a good reading week this week too but I have one of those weeks with something scheduled after school every day except Monday. Wish me luck!
