SUMMARY. A method for association of proteoliposomes with planar phospholipid membrane has been elaborated, by which operation of molecular electric generators, such as cytochrome oxidase, H+-ATPase and bacteriorhodopsin, can be followed using ordinary electrometer techniques.

This paper contributed to the proof of the chemiosmotic hypothesis. The proof of this hypothesis finally led to Nobel Award to Peter Mitchell.
