(en) US, Announcing SWARM: A New Atlanta Anti-Authoritarian Collective
Announcing SWARM, a new collective to form in the Atlanta area springing from the past
year of activity and action. We've found each other in struggle and have come to the
conclusion that working together benefits us and the goals that we share. SWARM has
decided to take on the project of opening a radical space in the area. We hope to kick
this project off with a good start, so we're holding a fundraiser on Saturday 9-29:

SWARM stands for Social War and Radical Mobilization.
Animated by a common revolutionary purpose, we are an anti-authoritarian collective in
Atlanta that struggles for a world without capitalism or government. We desire a world in
which we no longer work for bosses, where we cooperate together to meet our needs, and
where profit, exploitation, racism, sexism, homophobia, and ableism are barbarisms of the
past.
To help make this world into a reality, we have come together, an angry and inspired
swarm, to empower our communities, enliven anti-authoritarian culture in our region, and
disrupt the power of capitalism and government. Keen to learn from the successes and
failures of past revolutionary movements, we do not defer to leaders or a voting process;
we reject electoral politics and reformist strategies of delaying change. Above all, we
value direct action and material, pragmatic results over symbolic protest and futile pleas
with power.
The problems that afflict our city and region have been the tired subject of countless
liberal and authoritarian attempts at change. Yet, police violence remains unchecked,
poverty is tightening its grip on the working class, the military continues to kill
thousands abroad, and we have as little control over our own lives as we did yesterday.
Where are the promised set of changes? Nowhere to be seen.
Experience and history teach us that we can?t count on Democrats or other hierarchical,
big-money organizations to take up our struggles for us. We?ve played the waiting game
long enough. In politics as in everyday life, if you want something done right, do it
yourself?or better yet, with the mutual help of your friends and neighbors. This is the
project of SWARM.
