In the last three decades, the economies of developing countries have seen a rapid acceleration. Their share of the global economy has increased from 36 per cent to an estimated 51 per cent by 2014. However, sceptics believe the growth is unsustainable, especially in emerging countries plagued by political instability, health epidemics and corruption.
