An exciting opportunity has become available to support our writers, script editors and production teams in ensuring that all scripts meet the highest standard, both editorially and in production terms. As our Assistant Script Editor, you will work across the entire editorial process, reading all storylines and scripts throughout the editorial stages. Attending story conferences and script meetings, you will have a thorough, detailed knowledge of all the scripts. You will work closely with our current team of script editors and Series Producer in ensuring continuity within the story line and episodes, turning drafts around quickly to meet tight deadlines. When required, you will provide cover for our script editors, representing the interests of the writer and where necessary assisting to restructure and generate new storylines. You will also liaise with production on a daily basis with regards to cuts and additions.
Our Assistant Script Editor will have extensive knowledge of scripts and processes, with excellent editorial judgement and an eye for detail. You will be confident in establishing the intentions of the Producer, conveying these to the writers in a tactful manner. You will also have the ability to generate creative ideas, whilst displaying an awareness of production requirements and budgets. Knowledge of the production process and Coronation Street is essential, as is the flexibility to work long hours if required. A background in continuing drama would be beneficial.
