SCOPE: The Russian Academy of Sciences publishes more than 250 journals, first among these being the Herald of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Vestnik Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk), which provides a broad coverage of the Academy’s activities. Founded in 1931, it publishes the major works, speeches, and discussions presented to the Academy by the most eminent Russian and foreign scientists and presents the viewpoints of various disciplines on many important subjects related to the natural, technical, and social sciences. It addresses the scientist’s role in society and the role of scientific knowledge in the modern world. Important issues involving our world that affect all major areas of science, education, and our environment are discussed by these top scientists. Space in the journal is regularly devoted to reporting the work of the Presidium of the Academy, results of research groups, awards, prizes, and nominations. For 60 years, the journal appeared only in Russian. Now available in English, this resource is indispensable for university and research departments, libraries, and researchers wanting to keep abreast of news and trends in their fields.

ISSN: 1995-4263 (electronic version)
Read online on SpringerLink
Contemporary Problems of Ecology provides an indispensable source of knowledge and guidance to researches in academia and industry. It deserves a place on the library shelves of every academic institute and university with departments of ecology, geography, biology and earth sciences, as well as industrial organizations with environmental protection departments.
The journal is a translation of Sibirskiy Ekologicheskiy Zhurnal (Siberian Journal of Ecology), which was launched in 1994. It is a multidisciplinary periodical which publishes original work on the following subjects: theoretical and methodological issues of ecology, regional aspects of ecology, regional environmental disasters, structure and functioning of ecosystems, and anthropogenic transformation of ecosystems. The journal differs from others in that it covers a wide range of ecological problems. All basic aspects of modern ecology, including the most complicated interactions between living organisms and their environment, are presented. It publishes special issues dedicated to the global changes in biological diversity at various levels (populations, species, and ecosystems) and factors affecting them, principles and methods of rational environmental management. The journal is not limited to environmental problems of Siberia and offers materials of general scientific interest.

It publishes researches in the fields of Theoretical Biology, in its broadest sense. It aims at going beyond specializations, discussing, before a multidisciplinary audience, biological subjects of general interest.
Rivista di Biologia / Biology Forum publishes researches in all fields of biology (such as Evolutionary Biology, Developmental Biology, Genetics, Biophysics, Biomathematics, History of Biology etc.), provided they are of general theoretical interest.
Articles are in English, with an Italian summary. A news section (mainly in Italian) publishes book reviews, brief news and readers' letters (letters, either in English or in Italian, may be sent to silvano.traverso@tilgher.it ).
RIVISTA DI BIOLOGIA / BIOLOGY FORUM is published three times a year (three issues per volume).
The editorial, the news section and the abstracts of the articles are available FREE OF CHARGE in PDF format. To read PDF files Acrobat Reader is required. It can be dowloaded for free from the Adobe site. It is possible to purchase on-line single articles in PDF, at the incentive cost of 6 euro each.
For further information about RIVISTA DI BIOLOGIA / BIOLOGY FORUM please contact the Publisher.
Note. Rivista di Biologia / Biology Forum is published by Tilgher-Genova beginning with Vol. 89 (1996). Formerly the Journal was published by Anicia s.r.l. (via S.
