To continue the fight for our demands ---- Start a new academic year at universities,
colleges and secondary, and again we encounter the same problems of long ago. These range
from lack of infrastructure to house students, to arbitrary reforms of curricula, teachers
cesanteos of UBA, etc.. Beyond what is being said in the discursive, unfortunately this is
a systematic policy of joint Government and the Government of National City, which in many
ways continue to contribute to the precariousness of public education. From the
Libertarian Students Front systematize some of the central claims that cross the entire
student body, which will center on the agenda of all those that we intend to defend public
education and quality.
1) Problems with the curriculum:
Technical fight!
The academic demands are a response to the various attempts of governments to advance the
kind of education we want. If today there is clearly a sector struggling with constant
movement and a palpable mass arrival is that of students in high schools with technical
specialty. Technicians struggle through the Technical Group Autoconvocados (ATA) by the
repeal of the resolutions and decrees amending and empty their curriculum is similar to
parallel that exists in the UBA, in a more reduced terms of student population, but no
less important.
The LES lurking
The cuts and the lack of funding had always been an argument for the state building
industry, infrastructure materials and educational spaces. However, while the progress of
the cuts beyond infrastructure and is also manifested in the National Government's
intention to prove different courses of universities, an issue that has been doing even
more than the Menem administration, through the implementation of the Higher Education Act
(SLE). Accreditations have been implicated in the events the cut for the content of
undergraduate courses to pass to graduate payments, career orientation towards the needs
of the private sector (university-vaunted production system, expressed in free and
internships long internship) and to the interference of this sector in the curriculum and
research (such as Monsanto and La Alumbrera at UBA, Arcor at the University of Cordoba and
Volkswagen in the UTN, among many other examples). In addition, the Government tries to
wash your face with a draft announcing for years and also have it shelved, does not change
the substance of the LES, such as accreditation, the policy of "own resources" (not more
than private investment in exchange for more influence) and the criterion of merit
scholarships.
Reform curricula
As a contribution to the analysis of the education situation in Argentina, we see that the
model of government education is not only precarious materially, but also to reform the
commercialization like the contents of the races, regardless of the key players: teachers
and students. The reforms of the curriculum is now a common denominator throughout the
system educativo.Por we must live up to the forthcoming reforms to come, such as the UBA,
tertiary as Joaqu?n V. Gonzalez (where it was announced that all races will again be
modified, etc.). While we are at a disadvantage, it is shown that the student organization
may slow the progression of our careers. This is the case of the career of Social Work at
the Faculty of Social Sciences of the UBA, where the backs of the students tried to reform
the curriculum, and students themselves were mobilized those who managed to put a brake.
But the struggle is complex and can not obtain a complete victory if we organize ourselves
in all faculties, in open spaces that allow us to analyze and discuss the kind of
education we want and need, and the type of graduates who want to be.
2) Problems with the budget:
Cesanteos at UBA
The budgetary situation of education in Argentina is something that seems proud to
several, boasting of being the country with the highest GDP allocated to it. However, in
the classrooms of schools, tertiary and secondary do not perceive any change for the
better. On the contrary, we witness that the situation is becoming critical, aspects that
should be as basic as building complex. In turn, students not only suffer these
consequences, but again teachers are ready to fight to stop the more than 600 cesanteos
announced last quarter. The education workers would suffer another 500 compulsory
redundancies later this year. As an organization we believe it is very important to bring
to this fight, side by side with the teachers union that is in constant movement,
supporting strikes and defending their jobs.
"Social educational practices" or simply free labor?
The implementation of Resolution 520, adopted by the Board of Governors in May 2010,
states that from 2013 students are recorded in any race of the UBA must devote some of
their hours at work without pay as a condition for graduation, to like power management,
increasing the number of workers remain precarious and Pro Bono as students and workers.
The fight for the ticket just beginning
The last quarter were conducted several multi-sectoral meetings with the intention that
the FUBA and make visible student centers and relegated the old student ticket claim.
These meetings resulted in a massive march on May 18, in which student centers, student
and social organizations went to Plaza de Mayo to demand for the ticket.
This claim is still valid and we must claim back on track in all educational areas, as it
is by strengthening the student movement in the classroom and on the streets where we can
make our voices heard, compared to the increase in train tickets, bus and subway, and
inflation increases every month.
3) Trial by Mariano Ferreyra:
We can not fail to mention that on Monday August 6th began the trial of those responsible
for the murder of Mariano Ferreyra, being a fact of great importance in politics in
Argentina, which moves us and shocked since that October 20, 2010. We strongly believe
that the student movement can not be in any way alien to this call for justice and
punishment of the perpetrators and masterminds, and the complicity of the national
government. Mariano's struggle is and will remain, like ours, joining and defending the
rights of people with the workers. Mariano's example is that of militancy and class
solidarity.
We invite all partners who feel an affinity for our ideas and political positions to join
the struggle, from below and together, to organize the student movement to halt the
advancement of public education and other achievements of our working people. Because only
organized can contribute to this goal consistently. The FEL is born in the heat of the
struggles and to contribute to the same, and we bring all our betting partners, to discuss
and carry out together, without sectarianism or pettiness. That is the perspective of the
libertarian left.
