Swan Songs

I enjoy a relatively stress and angst free relationship with my siblings.  That in and of itself is a blessing. More than that I enjoy each time I am in their company.  They are funny, in that they have a sense of humor, they are engaging in that they will talk to everyone.    So as it was , one of my brothers arrived from California with one of his daughters and with his wife.

We did get together with them earlier in the week, when yet another sister  put together a dinner for them.  They were going to go on to Boston for a few days and then they would go on to Cape Cod for a week.

So my wife and I drove to Boston, so we could spend a full day with them, which we did.  It was well worth the time and effort.  I enjoyed seeing them and spending time with them.  They rode the Swan Boats , we ate New England Clam Chowder of which there is little to compare.  We toured about the city. We grabbed at Mike's Pastry, the blue and white boxes loaded with added pounds.

I haven't been in a couple of years, since our daughter graduated from college.  She was our reason for frequent trips to Boston.  It was nice to come back, we drove by her school, and in keeping with my growing sentimentality, I grew a little teary eyed at the memory of dropping her off the first time, the hugs, the kiss, the mother's crying, some of the dads too.  Me I held it together  until we were well down the Mass Pike and everyone else in the car was asleep, then I felt a couple run down my cheek.  We came to love Boston.

We loved being there with my brother his family.  It was great, I hope that we can do it again.
