Streamer-Tailed Tyrant Gallery
The Streamer-Tailed Tyrant, or Gubernetes yetapa, is one of the more delightful birds of the Cerrado, and its display, a raucous combination of wing lifting, bobbing, and tail wagging, is a joy to behold. Usually found in pairs or small groups, the tyrant generally occurs in marshy areas or humid grasslands with scattered shrubs, although it's far from being common. It also responds quickly and aggressively to playback, sometimes swooping in within meters to boisterously reclaim its territory. This pair was recorded at sunrise along the highway north to Chapada dos Veadeiros and didn't fail to provoke considerable laughter from those present.
