Community archaeologist Tim Upson-Smith, who uncovered the first of the floor tiles, said: “This is the sort of moment that we wait years for!”
The decorated tiles are believed to be in their original location in the refectory of the abbey and the plan is to incorporate these and any other features within the new refectory planned for Polesworth Abbey's visitors.

Work is taking place Monday to Friday till mid-September, and also on some Saturdays. There are jobs for people of all ages as well as a poetry interpretation with a poet-in-residence for each week.
