Doctor/ Doctor

Health care and Obama care. I am purposefully avoiding the policy debate at this time.  That is not my reason for noting my comments here.  I wonder about the practicalities of how to deliver the goods and how to reduce the cost.

But what I would like to know is how do we add 10% more consumers to the mix without adding 10% more providers .  We either need to start training more Doctors or we need to change our delivery system.  We will either open clinics or we will fail miserably.

This is the part of the equation where government often falls flat.  They can throw money into the mix and they can take it from you and from me, but they can not plan any way , shape or form as to how they will deliver the goods.  My Doctor is in his late 50s, he is a great guy, but he is limited to how many people he can stuff into his day and render proper care.  He is mindful of that, for he provides proper and thoughtful attention.  He is a brigh guy, well trained and efficient.

We will need to train more like him.  My daughter is an  RN, she by all accounts and by all record of her schooling is capable of going to Medical School.  She has no interest.  She does want to further her education and I hope she will.  We will need more like her.

Don't get sick , and how do you do that---don't smoke, keep exercising and keep your weight down.

That should be the first order of business.
