Update from Todd Passey and Michael Blinn

AMS guide Todd Passey just called in from the Mountain House in the Ruth Amphitheater.  He said the weather was perfect.  They climbed the Japanese Couloir on Mt. Barrille to the summit yesterday.  Today was a rest day for them.  Todd and Michael are staying in the Mountain House for the duration of their time in that area.  There is a wood burning stove inside to dry everything out and make winter camping a little easier.

They are switching gears a bit now.  They were able to climb Barrille with light-ish packs since they did not have to carry tents and other camping equipment.  Tomorrow they are going to launch for a super cool and seldom climbed peak, called Explorers peak.  Explorers peak is about 6 miles North-Northeast of the mountain house.  They will be looking to climb the North-West ridge.

Todd and Michael will set up a base camp near the base of the NW Ridge and try to climb the route in one long day.  Todd doesn't regularly call us here in town, "cause he's having too much fun in the mountains and likes to keep technology at bay, so it could be a bit before we hear from him again.
