White Dog announced, "Since dad did such a bang up job with the Spring cleaning yesterday, the rest of the White Dog Army and I made a few phone calls while you were out. Company at eleven. Daisy and Poppy and Dragon and Sen-ge, oh, and of course, their peeps! Knew you wouldn't mind. Oh, and I promised brunch, nothing fancy!"

Steve was still holding the door knob and glanced at his watch. It was 8:30am and we had just returned a hardware store trip to get pick up supplies to continue the cleaning projects. Fortunately, we had been grocery shopping on Saturday.

I glared at WD. "Weren't YOU the one moaning about the social overload of my birthday celebration?" "Well, that was for you; this is about us pups and it is no big deal--some duck jerky, fresh water, maybe some of dad's mackerel magic...voila!" "Voila! my foot! What about Rob and Stephanie and Gregg and Candace? Never mind I'll whip up something...wouldn't want her Serene Highness to be disappointed!" "Thanks momma! Not just for me but for my sisters and brothers who can use every socialization opportunity that they can get."

We put together a passable brunch of steak and bleu cheese salad, crustless quiche, fruit salad, and empanadas. When everyone arrived it looked as though a seamless plan had created a pleasant Sunday get together. "You owe me BIG," I whispered to WD as she greeted her guests and encouraged them to make themselves at home.
