My wife and I gifted ourselves a pair of tickets to Jersey Boys. The Broadway adaptation of the story of the Four Seasons---NJ's home grown rock and roll group. So what if it was Super Bowl Sunday. I got up early, walked the dog to a local golf course, where there was a flock of Canada Geese. I let him go and he chased them off. I love how he can cover a 400 yard fairway , make the turn and come back to me at a 40 MPH speed. I whistled him in and he dutifully came in at my feet--I hooked him back up and we went home. He was one happy boy, for Border Collies want to work and he knew he had done his job. Then I changed the oil on the cars. My son says why do you do that--- because I can---is why I do that. Because I can is the reason why I do most of the things that others eschew. It is why I replaced the kitchen sink last week, it is the reason why I hike in the woods, bike on the lane. Because I can, and hopefully I will be able to do so for a long while yet.
At home and had one of those Sunday Morning Breakfast that you do not get to do during the week.
But the high point of the day was yet to come. I showered and my wife and I went off to New York City and saw Jersey Boys. The show justifiably has earned all of its rave reviews.
We got home late in the first quarter and we were able to watch some of the game without our superfan son, whose football game yelling is enough to send us running. We watched quietly and had a nice dinner . Our son was off with his contemporaries at a Super Bowl Party, as he should be. We watched the Giants win , which only punctuated one of those days that was memorable for its enjoyment. Just a day in a life, but a day of enjoyment , knowing that we spent it together as a couple. After all these years the company of my wife is still most enjoyable. I would like to remember the day as it was, just nicely paced and nicely put together.
