The Kigali Bar Association is a professional body of Advocates created by the 1997 Act of Parliament (Act N° 03/97 of March 19th 1997). The Bar started with 37 advocates in 1997 and showed strong growth in numbers by reaching 700 advocates in 2011, the membership is characterised by a large proportion of young lawyers (63% of entire membership).
