White Dog,Quinn, Puff and YoYoMa LOVED the idea of stretching Nuka's birthday into a two-day celebration. Since her day, tomorrow, is one of Steve's late nights, the Army feared Another White Dog would be cheated of her official birthday dinner.

So we had a party tonight at dinner, serving some of Nuka's favorites (as described and chosen by her sisters and brothers). We started out with our new "usual" dog meal.

It is new because the vet believes that at least Nuka and possibly YoYoMa are allergic to chicken (corn and chicken are the two most common dog allergies). So we have switched to fish, mackerel (thank dog for the Asian market in our neighborhood which has them whole and inexpensive). this fish is full of all kinds of Omega-3 goodness and is hypo-allergenic. We boiled it with brown rice, flaked it up, added mixed veggies, some blueberries, and raw oats and voila! A new WDA favorite (although White Dog still needs a little coaxing before devouring her bowl).

After the "ap-pup-tizer" we had shrimp cocktail, truly one of our Florida girl's top five menu hits. No sauce for her, she likes them neat...tails and all. Only YoYoMa really enjoyed the spanakopita (spinach in filo dough) although everyone gave it a try. The WDA practiced singing the "Happy Barkday To You" song just so things will be perfectly in harmony for tomorrow's continuation. To set the mood and build anticipation, Nuka got a spoonful of ice cream (on a metal spoon!).

Tuesdays Steve is home until nearly 2pm, so we plan to dress up Nuka Angel in her best clothes, harness up the Army, go on a "show-off" walk down Central past all of the chic boutiques, and stop at Dawg Gone Good for a suitable birthday nosh. Then the Birthday Girl...

STOP! White Dog yelped!

Don't tell it all! What if Nuka reads this? What if someone spoils the surprise, Sen-ge who can't keep a secret? Just say there will be lots of fun before dad goes to work...and maybe a few things after.

My lips are sealed and my fingers officially silenced.
