White Dog sat on the bed and watched me layer on clothes in anticipation the The White Dog Army's Sunday rendezvous with Dragon, Sen-ge and their Parents for a walk through the Bosque. It was cold, even at nearly 10am. I insisted that Nuka and Puff (still getting over an ear infection and congestion) wear their heavy jackets. Nuka didn't mind; she loves dressing up. Still Another White Dog sighed in resignation as Steve slipped her jacket over her head and helped her legs through. After three minutes of trying to shake it off, Puff accepted the warmth and actually appreciated the coverage. Quinn opted to stay home and sleep in; the cold is not his forte plus he craved alone time.
At the Bosque the extended WDA briskly trotted out along the cottonwood lined path. Once warmed up, they did a bit of exploring off the trail and the humans took time to pick off briars and burrs. The Army was drawn to the river and hopped over water filled crevices to forge onward. It is not easy to keep pretty pink jackets and white paws clean as you traipse along the muddy riverbank. YoYoMa impressed everyone by leaping confidently and landing cleanly. The finishing 1000 yards or so back to the car was a flat out race with pups dragging panting humans behind. It is clear as we head into Spring and better outdoor weather just WHO really needs the exercise part of our Sunday get-togethers most.
