White Dog celebrates her seventh Gotcha Day today. Our Baby Girl, the Little White Dog of My Heart, has been with us since she was barely 8 weeks old. Our fluffy tumbling bundle of love has grown into a cosmopolitan lady with a compassionate view of the world and an intense desire to make a difference. She has opened her heart and home to what has become the White Dog Army...five senior Eskies who have lived through tough lives...not an easy thing for a spoiled only child. She is determined and fearless and committed.
Siku, and all of the WDA, have become rabid crusaders in the war against cancer because it simply must be stopped. We have seen too many taken too soon. Too many families have had giant holes ripped into their hearts by losses to this monster. Cancer.Touches.Everyone. White Dog works tirelessly toward the day when the c beast has no more power and can hurt no more.
As we fight to increase awareness and research funding, we recognize the incredible Warriors who have fought--and are fighting valiantly--taking on the battle personally as they struggle with the enemy living inside their bodies. To us there are no braver or more noble or more exemplary Heroes to be found.
We are honored to know and stand in solidarity with so many champions but at the same time are saddened that these finest hearts must be so horribly tested.
One of our friends, K and her heart human KB, are at this very moment together facing down the c monster in the most amazingly glorious way of living in the moment. They are truly an inspiration as they push away the fear to greet the sunrise joyously...to porpoise through the deep mountain snow...to truly live the adage that each day is a present. Through them we have learned so much about the important things. Each day we ask the Universe to bless K and her human with a crystal clear moment of unconditional love and shared bliss
It is K and so many two- and four-leggeds in similar battles that teach us the elegance of refusing to surrender; it is they who provide a framework for hope...and a reason to fight what sometimes seems like an impossible to win fight. It is to K we promise that we walk beside her through it all and continue without rest until Cancer.Touches.No One.
Happy Gotcha Day, Siku Marie! Today, with I hope K's blessing, we celebrate life and hope and love.
