White Dog looked over and asked me, "How does it feel to finally have the Gift completely done?" I had to think about it...on one hand, there was relief that nearly ten months of work had come together so well...and there was jubilation that at last the recipient had received the Gift...but on the other hand there was a bit of missing it, I had lived with the bits and pieces so long that I found myself a little possessive.

The Gift was a project I started when we found out the mommeh over at The World of Hansel (with Hansel, Tesla, and Benny) was going to become mommeh of a human. It began with a wonderful dialog between Lisa and her husband and I over what things in this wonderful world they would to share with her and teach her to love as much as they did.

Their answers became the basis for the "story chair," a rocker painted with images of those things...animals...sunset...team spirit...snow...the Ocean...Christmas...and more. It was a project the White Dogs and I (for they all had a hand in supervising...White Dog always beside me as I painted and YoYoMa usually under my easel) only worked on when the energy was right. Bad weather or moods were not allowed to enter this work for the coming Baby Ava; this was to be a sanctuary of good feelings. Steve lent his very able skills and talents to depicting our Balloon Fiesta, a reminder of their family's visit to our Land of Enchantment. It seemed like forever (and nearly was) but last weekend we photographed the rocker (the first time any of us had seen it assembled) and made a video explaining the Story and sent the now 4-month old girl our Gift.

Today we awoke to a message that our box had arrived Thursday and that the family had watched the video that night. It was a joyful moment for us all. And like all special moments in our lives, we wanted to share our happiness with our Blog community.
