White Dog...leader of the White Dog Army...wise and compassionate one...beautiful runner...magician?

Through circumstance...some would call it poor planning...others over-treating...all three of the treat jars (in the living room, the office, and the bedroom) are flashing a "running VERY low" warning at the same time. This has thrown the household into panic especially since Steve checked the treat storage bin and returned to announce that we were out of spares. With five pups each expecting a nite-nite treat of five of the training bits, the bedroom stash would disappear tonight. The living room jar might make it past the pre-breakfast warm-up training drill. And the Office jar was hopelessly gone already.

The jars contain Fromm's all-natural baked treats (a low calorie mix of cheese and cranberry liver). The WDA loves these and we use them as rewards, training incentives and snacks. They are only available from ONE store in Albuquerque, clear across town. The woman who owns the place knows of the WDA's "habit" so she makes sure that there are always bags of Fromm's in the back room (in case her shelves are empty). But we generally, can't get there until the weekends, hence the WDA panic.

Steve was in one of the kitchen cabinets which contain dog "stuff" like shampoo, brushes, extra vitamins, the first aid kit, etc. looking for Nuka's skin ointment. As usual, he was being supervised. Suddenly White Dog pushed past him and crawled deeply into the shelf. Steve grabbed her and pulled her out, ready to remind her of her manners and safety issues. Instead he started laughing.

She held the black bag in her mouth and her tail wagged excitedly. She dropped it when asked and stuck her nose back in. White Dog had discovered, or conjured, a secret stash of the Fromm's treats! Mistakenly stored there or magically pulled from thin air, the rest of the White Dog Army did not care as they crowded around to make sure these were, indeed, the real thing and not an illusion.

Tomorrow, we will all take a field trip to Boofy's to stock up, but this Thursday night, we are thankful for the small miracles that happen every day.
