Going Digital

This year we are moving many of our practices from paper to a digital version. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you prepare to attend our January 28th conference at Spain Park High School.

  1. One of the biggest changes you will notice is that you will not be handed a stack of papers when you check into the conference. We realize that after a conference is concluded, you rarely have any use for a schedule or a list of breakout sessions. Therefore, the breakout session schedule will be posted as large posters throughout Spain Park High School for your reference. Student ambassadors will be present to direct you to the different locations within the school. If you would still like to have your own copy of these pages, we've made them available to you as links which can be found here. (NOTE: These files are on Dropbox;some schools systems block Dropbox because it's a file sharing site. You should be able to pull them up from home. If you have problems downloading these files, please feel free to email us at alnbctnetwork@gmail.com)
  2. There are many NBCTs and educators from across the country that have expressed an interest in participating in our conference virtually. One way that we are going to do this is through Twitter. If you are new to Twitter, this is a perfect opportunity to join the professional conversations. While you attend, you can tweet about what you are learning, resources and ideas shared by presenters, and your thoughts. By adding #alnbctbetwork to your tweets, anyone who is following our conference will get the benefit of all the learning that will be happening that day. This a is a great way to give back to the learning community and get involved with those from across the country. New to Twitter? A tutorial can be found here.
  3. More and more presenters are going digital. We encourage all of you to bring your digital device to the conference whether it be a smart phone, tablet, iPad, laptop, or netbook. This is a great way to take notes, look at resources when they are being discussed, interact with others at the conference about the topics, and add new contacts to your personal learning network. Most presenters now create a digital version of their hand-outs instead of paper copies. If you feel more comfortable using paper to take notes, please feel do that.
We look forward to seeing all of you soon. If you have not registered, please do so as soon as possible. Seats are limited.
