White Dog put her head in my lap. "There is so much sadness, momma! Why are so many suffering and sick and in need during this time that is supposed to be festive and joyful?" We had jut read the news that two more friends in our blogging community were fighting for their lives and there were tears running down my cheeks.

"I wish I had an answer, Little One. Or at least an idea of how to make it stop," I replied. " I agree that it seems so wrong."

"But what about hope? and love? and the power to make miracles where they are least expected? Aren't they powerful enough to change things?" White Dog pressed.

"Sometimes it seems that there is no hope left and love is just accepting the situation and miracles escape our reach. We are overwhelmed and surrender to fate."

"But hope and love, momma, are the food of the soul! As long as your soul is strong you can never be defeated! You decide how you walk through your day...you decide how you fight the good war...you decide when it is time to continue your journey beyond here. Don't you see, momma? Hope and love! Don't send tears of sadness; send songs of loving caring heart bursting hope and love...there is no more powerful gift."

"You give ME hope, White Dog," I whispered. "Thank you."
