White Dog and The White Dog Army left Quinn sleeping soundly when we went out early to run errands and enjoy our weekend-beginning-Friday. He was settled comfortably in the sunshine streaming through the window and was snoring. We left a strip of duck jerky next to him in lieu of a note and headed out.
The game plan was to pick up a few last minute things, do some normal life stuff, and then get home to spend the afternoon focusing on wrapping presents and getting boxes packed so that we could FINALLY send our holiday greetings on their way across the country. Steve was home so the thought of this process was not so daunting as the other night when I attempted to so it alone with the White Dog Army supervising.

When we got home Quinn was awake and standing guard over some packages that had been delivered while we were out (Michael had brought them in). He quickly let the WDA know that there was something special in one of them. White Dog pushed the others aside and read the label..."Hey, this one is for us!" Steve stopped the onslaught long enough to open the box.

There was a gasp! Then a soft woo of gratitude at the WDA's good fortune. Inside the box with a smile on the outside were TWO, bless me Ultima, TWO huge bags of duck jerky in the familiar purple bag. This treasure had been sent by Teddy and Sierra (Teddy's Tales) as a Christmas greeting that transcended all languages.

"Can we have some?" Puff asked looking up at Steve. "We don't have to wait until Christmas morning, do we?" woofed Quinn. "You know you guys DID abandon me with only the tiniest bit of kibble in my bowl. I was starving AND worried!" Steve cuddled TOWD and started to apologize. "Wait a minute, though, we DID leave you some jerky right next to where you were napping." "You did?" Quinn dashed into the office and came out chewing away." I guess now everyone is going to need a piece," Steve laughed and tore open the bag...but just one!"

"Ummmm, FIRST isn't there something you all want to say?" I asked. White Dog thought for a moment then called the Army to attention. "Thank you Teddy and Sierra, we are lucky to have such good and caring friends. We are even luckier that you are so thoughtful. Merry Christmas and a bountiful New Year to all of your family! You deserve the best!" The others woo'd in agreement and sealed their gratefulness with the sounds of happy enjoyment.
