An ancient settlement has been found in the territory of the Salyan region of Azerbaijan.
Mud wares, clothes and human remainders were found in an ancient settlement found during construction of the Alat-Astara highway near Babazanan mountain.
Officials of the executive powers of Salyan and Archaeology and Ethnography Institute of the Academy of Science of Azerbaijan came to the spot.
According to department chief of the institute Arif Mammadov, initial excavations and researches made it clear that the findings belong to the antique period and middle ages.
Several graves of the first-third centuries were found here but most of them were damaged during excavations.
According to Mammadov, the settlement here existed due to proximity to Kur.
