It says something about this country...

... when the President of the United States considers our economic situation to be so severe that he considers it necessary to address a joint session of Congress and the American people via a national telecast... and then...

... then the broadcast time for this critical speech has to be adjusted so that it does not compete (presumably unsuccessfully) with a National Football League game.

I'm not sure what this "says" about us/him/the situation, but it seems odd.
